1st Meeting in Targu Jiu - Romania


DSC00957.JPGAs part of the Comenius Project "The European teenagers between fast food and culinary tradition" School Manuel de Figueiredo attended the first meeting held in Romania, in the city of Targu-Jiu, from October 28 to November 2 in Colegiul Tehnic Nr.2. The meeting was aimed at the first contact with partners, the reformulation of initially planned mobilities, summary and planning activities to develop.
Theweek began with a visit to the host school where the different partners had the opportunity towatch specific classes of different courses.In the afternoon, the first working session, each school partners presented their own educational system, as well as the characterization of their school and region.
The host team provided all partners two very interesting study visits which provided information about the local traditions and culture.
The MonasteryTismana, the caves (which served as a shelter during the wars that ravaged the region), and some craft workshops like weaving and pottery factory and a milk production.There was also the opportunity to visit the city, some fast food restaurants near the school and the local market with all its colorful and traditional products, from fish to vegetables typical to the region. We were also offered a visit to the house of the great sculptor Constantin Brancusi and contact with his work.
The week ended with a workshop that defined the procedures for the students’ mobility, as well as the dates of the next meetings.




2nd Meeting in Castelfranco - Italy




DSC01262.JPGOur second meeting was held in Italy, from 18 to 22 February. On this visit we took three students of the eighth grade class who were housed with host families. The week began with a visit to the host school - Instituto Superiore di Istruzione Secondary "D. Sartor "Castelfranco where, beyond the initial reception, made by its Director, the different partners had the opportunity to attend a presentation about the school. It is a school that teaches technical and practical education related to agricultural and the environmental issues. We visited Castelfranco and Montebelluna as well as fields with varied cultures (fruits, vegetables, plants and flowers) and animal husbandry. Students work in the fields with the help of appropriate machinery. The products are then sold and the money reverts to the school. We could also watch the making of cheese. During the week, in the morning, students participated in activities programmed in the host school.

Some visits were made to the cultural walls of Castelfranco, the oven Asolo, the factory PASTA ZARA, the museum in Montebelluna and the cellars at VIlla Sandi and Treviso.

Students from each country presented their school, the team of students involved in the project and the work done so far, in English (working language),

Portuguese students were highly praised, both by their performance in English as the originality and creativity of the work presented and even their interaction with others. They were, in fact, the more cherished. We teachers, we were also very happy for them.

The week ended with a "Special Dinner", at a cooking school, the Istituto di Castelfranco Alberghiero where students wove and served a delicious dinner.

This visit had the cooperation of Parents / Guardians who promptly answered all the items they were asked to including the transport of their children on trips to Lisbon.




3rd Meeting in Antalya - Turkey


The third meeting of the Comenius Project "The European teenagers between fast food and culinary tradition" was held in Antalya (Turkey), 14-19 April. On this visit we took four students (three 9th graders and one 8th grader) who were hosted by Turkish families.
In the host school - Yusuf Ziya Oner Fen Lisesi "in Antalya, a public boarding school located in the rural area of Antalya which aims to train students in science we were greeted by a director and an" Opening Ceremony ".
The heavy rain and some electricity problems forced a change of the scheduled programming, but luckily on Tuesday the sun came back.
The host partner prepared varied tours: the yogurt factory Yörükoğlu, where we watched the process of production of yogurt, the falls of Düden, the tourist center of Kaleiçi, where the five-star hotels completely stunned us, a boat trip with lunch on board and lots of entertainment (dance and song), the cultural visits to the oldest Antalya - Demre, Myra, Perge, Silyon, Aspeados.
