Activities of Romanian team-1st August 2012– 30 April 2013

During 1-st August 2012- 10 September 2012 there were prepared the official documents for starting the project (signed the Contract between the school and the national Agency, etc).

The dissemination of the project about the financial source of was started in this period with an article in a local newspaper.

In September 2012 (17-24) it took place the selection of the target group. The selection was after the information of the students about project’s objectives and activities. It consisted in an English test and a questioner about their food habits. Finally, for the first year, the target group has 37 students from ninth, tenth and eleventh grades.

In September 2012 was held too, the project introduction workshop. Then we informed the other students and teachers from high school and the local authorities’ representatives who answer to our invitation about: the project main purpose and objectives, the six schools which collaborate with us in these two years.

After activities for this period the results were: the target group, PP presentations, articles in press local, on school site etc.

In October the timetable of the project’s activities included a meeting of parents and students from the school with a nutritionist and a psychologist.  A nutritionist was invited in our high school to talk with students about the importance of a healthy alimentation and to explain how a wrong style of alimentation can affect our mind and body. The psychologist of the institution participated at the activity, too and presented the results of the students’ questionnaires. As materials it were as results: activity's report, pictures, video, questionnaires.

Between 30 October-3 November it took place the first meeting for partners of the projects. It was the visit for which our school was the host. The six foreign delegations were represented by 15 teachers: two teachers from Spain, Italy, Poland, and three teachers from Greece, Portugal and Turkey.

For each day of the week were offered interesting activities while enjoyable, especially relevant to the project.

In the first day each partner schools presented its own school, country-specific issues, focusing on education systems, the manner of approach to education for a healthy lifestyle and defining elements of culinary tradition.

In two workshops the teachers discussed about the future activities of the project, about the final products and fixed the final dates of the visits. The third day of the visit began with a practice walk: the seven teams' members, guests and hosts, went to town with map in hand, to see what is offered by the community for young people, in terms of food

Also, in two days of that were there were some documentary and cultural visits in places linked with the Romanian culinary tradition and culture.

In that week was lunched the blog of the project named "Mum's food or fast food?" Also the Spanish team proposed to choose an appropriate logo design.

In November and in the first part of December, the students of the target group worked for different logos of the project. Finally, each school proposed its own version for the logo and it was organised a vote for the best logo. The team of each country voted and the winner was the Spanish logo. So, at finish of December the project had its own logo.

In December we began the preparation for visit in Italy. So, the implementation team made the selection for 2 students. The two students chosen for this visit, helped by their colleagues from the target group, have prepared materials for Italy.

In January and the first part of February all the students for the target group worked in teams for portfolios. The folders contain different materials made by students during the project’s activities. There are presentations of the each team’s members, presentation of the school, questionnaires, materials about the healthy traditional food and about effects of fast food.

In January we started in the school a campaign No fast food today. The students of the target group have prepared different flyers with details about fast food in opposite with traditional healthy food and they tried to discus about those two alternatives with the students of the school.

In February, the teachers of the implementation team have prepared a short report for the results of the questionary about students' food habits, given by the psychologist.

Between 16-23 February the Romanian team (3 teachers and 2 students) have participated to visit in Italy. It was a very nice and instructive visit for teachers and students, in the same time. We could find a lot of interesting things about Italian food products and we have met the Italian culture and tradition at its home.

During the workshop of the teachers we discussed about the future activities of the project, about some changes on the project’s blog and about the Virtual guide and the photo album of the project. The Romanian coordinator has remind to the partners' coordinators, about the portfolios of the students and about periodical reports from each partner, to the coordinator of the project, as an intern way of evaluation for the project.

After this visit the members of the team have prepared and presented materials for dissemination.

In March we began the preparation for visit in Turkey. So, the implementation team made the selection for 5 students. The five students chosen for this visit, helped by their colleagues from the target group, have prepared materials for Turkey.

In April we have worked, too, for the first part of the virtual guide of the healthy food on a topic proposed by the Portuguese partner.

Between 14-21 April the Romanian team (5 students and 5 teachers) have participated to the third meeting of the project, in Turkey. It was a wonderful visit, for students and teachers, an opportunity to know a lot of things about each other and especially about the Turkish partner’s school, activities and culture.

During the teachers workshop we have fixed details about future activities and targets of the project, especially about the other parts of the virtual guide for the healthy food.

At return from this visit the members of the team have prepared materials for their colleagues and for media.
